Our Store

Established in 1983, in Providence, Rhode Island ( RI ) when Disco ruled the dance floor and glitz was a way of life, Sonya’s in the Arcade became a Mecca for the downtown divas. Specializing in her own label of imported footwear and leather goods, the designer boutique established a presence on the city’s fashion scene.

Their early success allowed a prominent move to Garden City Center in Cranston. 1992 brought Sonya’s edgy glamour to suburbia.  Black was the color of choice and spandex became one’s closest friend.

Five years later, a move of our designer boutique to Oaklawn Avenue, also in Cranston, was just the right fit. Along for the ride was Alyce, Manager extraordinaire, and Cirella, the expert seamstress.

After nine exciting years of growth, Sonya’s purchased the space they are in now; down the street, still on Oaklawn Avenue.
The impressive free standing building boasts 25 foot ceilings and a design style Sonya calls “funky elegance”.  “It’s a nice change from all those white walled stores”, customers echoed.

With lots of hard work, a great staff, and much enthusiasm, Sonya’s vision came to fruition.

The red palace known on Oaklawn maintains to be the go to haven for fashionistas in Rhode Island and beyond.

A sincere thank you from Sonya and staff for our loyal followers.
